Cold Minnesota winter was the reason behind a new entertainment trend. Alleged starter of this trend was Minneapolis resident Tom Grotting. He soaked pants in a water and hang them outside so they would freeze. Then, he inserted frozen pants into the snow, took pictures of them and uploaded to his Facebook page. Now, other fellow residents are doing the same and post pictures with #frozenpants on social media.
Grotting began the now-tradition a few years ago when what was described as a Polar Vortex left Minneapolis with unbearably cold temperatures. “I mostly do it for my neighbor, Diane,” Grotting told ABC News. “The winter gets a little long and she doesn’t like winter very much so it’s mostly entertainment for Diane.” This year, Grotting’s frozen pants prank has gone viral after he posted photos to the neighborhood Facebook page, “I Love NE Minneapolis.”
